PGL launches Divizia PGL in Romania

The veteran eSports event creator known as PGL  has made a big announcement concerning Romania and this is the second big piece of news in the last 7 days after Team Romania won a major European Dota 2 competition only a few days before.

PGL is putting together a tournament dedicated to Romanian players. The tournament will boast a prize-pool  of $13.500 divided between Dota 2, CS:GO and League of Legends competitions. Teams will have to qualify in the month of March. Teams that qualify will then enter a Free- For- All type of tournament and will fight  over the course of 15 matches, each match offering a $100 cash prize.

The PGL Studio in Bucharest will accommodate the finals and it is there that the victors will claim $2000 for the win and $1000 for placing second for each of the three competitions.

This will be a welcome addition to the competitive gaming landscape in Eastern Europe as there certainly is a lot of untapped value there for League of Legends, Dota 2 and CS:GO.

The Romanian gaming community was deprived of a yearly competition with renewed seasons and different divisions. Hopefully this will light the flame of E-Sports in Romania and give a few teams the chance to stept under the spotlight.

This is a very important project. Ever since I joined PGL I wanted to get to this very moment, to be able to do what we are doing now. I wanted a recurring competition for Romanian teams. It’s one thing to be in a championship every few years and it is a completely different thing to play in a championship that keeps increasing its value

Cristian “Ppasarel” Bănăseanu, project manager Divizia PGL
